About Melissa (Tugmon) McGlenn
Okay, you’ve seen what I can do, but you’re probably wondering “who is she?” so let me finally introduce myself! I’m Melissa. Simply an artist at heart (if you haven’t noticed), I love the outdoors and find inspiration in the raw beauty of nature.
My Story
I’m on a lifelong mission to inspire and empower people, especially women, to achieve a higher level of success both personally and professionally. My goal is to breathe life into people’s personal stories through their every trial and triumph, in hopes of evoking a sense of unshakeable solidarity, resiliency, and compassion in others. Friends describe me as an inquisitive renaissance woman, a risk-taker, self-disciplined, persistent, creative, a lover of knowledge, excellence inclined, and as someone focused on service for the common good of all.
I was born in Central Oregon and raised in Southeast Alaska. Adopted at age 7, I learned to be strong as I rose above every circumstance. Being a victim and conqueror of childhood neglect and multiple abuse experiences, I’ve learned to use my situations as stepping-stones for myself. As a result of being raised in two families, I have eleven brothers/sisters and twenty-four nieces and nephews that I love. Some of my fondest childhood memories include trying to find a berry picking location that didn’t have bears and reeling in my first 65-lb king salmon. I still love fishing and berry picking! I also picked up a love of traveling after being an exchange student to Russia. Upon graduating, I spent a year in Egypt and later lived in Italy for three years.
When I started out my first job of summer babysitting at the age of twelve, little did I know that I had begun a career journey in early childhood development. I worked as a nanny abroad, then on a sailboat and eventually worked my way to the position of Interim Director at a large child development center. Then while living in Italy, the culture began to rub off on me, and I discovered I had a natural talent for art and design. So after a 12-yrs working with children, I decided to go back to school to pursue my dream of becoming a professional artist. Being someone who loves projecting the best in everything I do, I got hired to rebuild the CNIC Navy website and to create advertisements for the Morale, Welfare & Recreation Programs just within six months of enrolling in an online degree program for Marketing & Design. While I was completing my degree, I worked as an in-house designer for the Navy and then for Superheat FGH, building my skills and repertoire. Passionate about the creative arts, cultivating community and helping others, I moved back to Oregon in 2012 and began building my current business, Inspired Melissa.
In 2020, I married the love of my life, Kevin and together, our blended family is home to three wonderful boys aged 15, 8 and 6. We are dedicated to providing a safe, love-filled, and encouraging home for our blended family. I work hard to maintain a balance between my personal and professional endeavors, and in my free time, I love to play in my garden, canoe with my husband, and paint.
Outside of my career education, I’ve taken extensive classes and training on topics like communication, neuro-linguistic programming, hypnosis, massage, feminine leadership, storytelling, spirituality, languages(I speak Russian, Arabic, Spanish & Italian), trauma recovery, and various art modalities.
Currently I am most intrigued with the topics of genealogy, forgiveness, medicinal plants & am teaching myself to play the piano.
Everything I offer is about transformational growth and inspiring possibility. While I have a vast set of skills, I believe my purpose on this planet is simple: learn to love myself with gentleness and extend that loving compassion to others; nourish creativity; and help others by being a steward of metamorphosis.
My Favorites
Some of my favorite writing includes The Artists Way by Julia Cameron, Walden by Henry David Thoreau, Supernature by Lyall Watson, Fingerprints of the Gods by Graham Hancock, Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Estes, Self-Reliance by Ralph Waldo Emerson, and these days I’m enjoying reviewing the red letters in the New Testament.
Favorite Ted Talk: Elizabeth Gilbert’s “Your Elusive Creative Genius.”
Favorite Podcasts: Danielle LaPorte’s “Grace for Impact,” and “Dear Joan and Jericha” with Joan Damry and Jericha Domain.

Melissa is a wonder! She took two newbies to the video/audio world and patiently let us find our way. The result is a professional offering gaining in views and positive comments. She totally “got” us and our mission. As we develop more offerings she is and will be a part of our team.
Of all the things Melissa does well with our website, my favorite part of her service is her creative collaboration. I always leave a meeting with her feeling energized, inspired and grateful! She brings creativity and beauty and is wonderfully inspiring as a collaborative partner. I highly recommend her services.
I called Melissa for a brief bit of social media advice and got a full session of generous and brilliant online business development advice. I cannot recommend her highly enough to mission-driven entrepreneurs who are growing a business.
